My name is Tachuiekue Jean but I am popularly known as “Tanyi” because I am married with three set of twins. I am a bike rider and I used to smoke 30 sticks of cigarettes a day. Cigarette was basically my food. I have been smoking for more than 20years and everyone avoided coming close to me because of the smells of cigarettes. One faithful day, I carried a KYN staff of the Bafoussam Baptist Health Center, on my motor- bike, on her way for a “KYN” outreach and she could not breathe because of the horrible smell of tobacco as we rode along. She then invited me to the KYN unit, where I was screened and counseled. Even though my numbers were okay, I knew I had a problem because of the smoking. I promised that with the help of the “KYN” team I was ready to work hard to overcome this addiction. Today I can proudly say it’s been one and half year since I finally overcame smoke, I do not smoke even a stick now. Now I relate well with my wife and others. I sleep in the same room with my wife and I feel and look better than I used to do. My palms used to be so black and dirty but now, they are clean and shining. I advise all those who smoke to make an effort to stopping it.
