Cameroon Civil society NCD Alliance (CACSNA) launches a report on the state and role of NCD services within the context of the country’s COVID-19 response. This report was launched during a press conference on November 25, 2020, in Yaounde.
CACSNA conducted a survey to evaluate considerations for NCD care in the elaboration of the national COVID-19 response plan. The study involved a review of documents mentioning NCDs and COVID-19 in Cameroon, interview of key personalities involved in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and PLWNCDs.
The results revealed that the national COVID-19 response plans neither included specific actions regarding NCD services nor considerations for PLWNCDs. On the basis of this evidence, the Alliance is advocating for improvements in NCD and related services- patient education, screening, continual access to services and exploring other strategies like e-health, mobile clinics and home visits.
