In her efforts to improve diabetes and hypertension care for clients, the CBC Health Services has empowered some 20 Diabetes and Hypertension educators from Yaounde, Douala, Bamenda, Bafoussam, Mbingo, Banso, Kumba, Mutengene, Sabga .
The 2- day training-17 -18 January 2020, at the Director of Health Services’ Hall, Baptist Centre, Nkwen, Bamenda, featured the current recommendations regarding client-centered counseling, lifestyle management, medications etc.
Pregnancy planning by diabetic and hypertensive patients is seen to be very essential to ensure adequate blood sugar and blood pressure control respectively, and optimize outcomes for the mother and baby i.e. avoiding congenital malformations, intrauterine foetal death, early neonatal death, etc.
There’s need to emphasize the central role of lifestyle modification for everyone, not just patients. Dr. Epie Njume, General Supervisor NCD Program, told Diabetes and Hypertension Educators during training.
