Cameroon Civil Society NCD Alliance wins global “#ActOnNCDs” Campaign Fuel Award
Cameroon Civil Society NCD Alliance (CACSNA) won the 2020 “Act on NCDs” campaign fuel award for demanding accountability during the Global Week for Action on NCDs from 7 – 13 September 2020 for the second time in a row.
In 2018 and 2019, activities marking the Global Week for Action on NCDs were commemorated under the theme-ENOUGH. Our Health. Our Right. Right Now. In 2020, the theme-was Accountability: Pushing for Progress with the campaign hashtag #ActOnNCDs, calling for “ACTION” to follow political commitments and declarations and for ‘all hands on deck’ in the fight against NCDs.

The CBC Health Services, other members of CACSNA, Young Advocates for NCD Prevention (NCD-YAPs) and PLWNCDs followed global trends to call for NCD Care to be made a priority in Cameroon through the formulation and implementation of relevant policies, with focus on alcohol, tobacco and sugary beverages. More than 5,000 persons were mobilised through Radio Talks, social media posts, and voices of NCD-YAPs and health talks in the community.
This year, the global week for action on NCDs will run from September 6-12, 2021 with a theme yet to be announced. Stay tuned
